Sub-collections
Usually, our collections are sorted after taxonomic groups and within the groups, alphabetically after family, genus and species, where we assign a unique accession code to each specimen.
Here we present thematic sub-collections, such as timber collections, composed of small wood samples of different tree species. Each individual sample alone provides little information, since it is not indicated where and when a sample was collected. The sub-collection as a unit, however, contains valuable information about a certain topic (plant galls, timber, etc.) and was therefore accessed as such.
